Juventus on the top of the table with 7 points!

After the resumption of football in Italy the first two games for the Italian champions were not good. Their first game was against the 7 times champions league winner Ac Milan in the semi-final of the Coppa Italia which they drew 0-0. Ronaldo missed a penalty in that game and was heavily criticized for that. Juve still qualified for the final due to their away goal in the first leg before the suspension of football due to the ongoing pandemic.

The second match was against Napoli in the final of the Coppa Italia. The first 90 minutes of the match ended in a goalless draw and instead of going to the extra time the match was to be decided by a penalty shoot-out. The reason for that was the current situation and also the fact that all the players had not played for the last three months. Juve lost the final on penalties by 4-2 where one of their main striker Paulo Dybala missed a penalty helped by a penalty miss by Danilo.

After the first two games they had to face a lot of criticism from their fans and also their coach was very angry with the performance of his players. Sarri had to inject an injection of quality in his players. Juventus were only one point ahead of Lazio who are chasing them for the title, and to keep the title in their hands they had to win most of their league games.

Juve's first league game was against Bologna away from home. They won that game with a score of 2-0 in their favor. Juve were on top from the start of the game and broke the deadlock and also scored their first goal after the resumption of football in the 23rd minute when Ronaldo scored it in the center. The second goal of the match was a stunner scored by their right winger Paulo Dybala in the 36th minute from the edge of the box assisted by Bernadesci. That win took them 4 points ahead of Lazio in the title race.

Lazio had to win their match against Atalanta to keep up their title race also to narrow the points difference. Lazio lost that game and hence gave Juve a chance to go 7 points up by winning that game. Juve's next game was at home against a low positioned team Lecce.

This time Juve was on the top from the word go and didn't look like slipping anything away. Their main men Ronaldo and Dybala both started the match on a real high. Lecce simply couldn't stop them from entering their half. The first big moment of the match came in the 33rd minute when Lucioni got a red card after the foul on Rodrigo Bentancur and the away team went to 10 men.



The first half ended in a 0-0. The second half proved to be very fruitful for the champions. The first goal of the match was scored by Paulo Dybala in the 53rd minute assisted by Ronaldo and what a wonderful goal that was. It was pretty much the same as the one he scored against Bologna. It was an absolute purler from the edge of the box and the keeper had no chance to save that.

After six minutes from the first goal, Ronaldo received a penalty and scored in the 62' minute to give Juventus the lead of two goals. Higuain came as a substitute and scored from a backheel assist by Ronaldo. The fourth goal of the match came in the 85' minute of the match when from a cross by Cost De Ligt headed the ball in the back of the net.

Cristiano Ronaldo was probably the man of the match. He scored a goal that took him to a total of 23 goals in the league so far second highest in the league after Lazio's Ciro Immobile's 27. He also assisted two goals: one to Dybala and a beautiful backheel to Higuain. Also, this was one of his best performances in the season so far.

That win of Juventus took them seven points ahead of Lazio who are closest to them in the league. If any team in the league who can stop Juve from winning the league is Lazio. They were in the red hot form before the suspension of the league scoring 60 goals with an average of 2.2+. Lazio still has one game in hand.

Sarri after the match in a conference said that "This is a great game we have played today. Our key players played their best football." He also added the importance of Ronaldo in the team and said that improving Ronaldo needs to help the team more and more if they are to win the remaining titles.

Juventus fans will want their team to play like this and win the league title first which they have been winning for the last nine years then the main thing which the champions league title for what they have been dreaming for years. This is the main reason why they signed Mr champions league Cristiano Ronaldo from  Real Madrid in 2018 which kind of shocked the world. They won their last title in July 1998, since then they are just dreaming about the title.

When Sarri was signed at the start of this season it was expected that everyone will get to see a new Juventus. Sarri is a very attacking-minded coach. His last spell in Italy was with Napoli where he made an average team a world-class team with his tactics. Then he moved to England and was the coach of Chelsea for one season and returned to Italy again but this time with Juventus. Sarri so far hasn't fulfilled the expectations which people had with him. His team has lost two straight finals under him. One was against Lazio and the second one against his old team Napoli.



If Juventus wants to win the Uefa Champions league then they will need to change their tactics and also have to lift their game offensively. Some times they are just two short of goal scoring opportunities and creative plays in the pitch. Also, their key players Ronaldo, Dybala, and Pjanic will need to fire until the end of the season.
