Who is the favorites to win the champions league this season?

Uefa champions league is the most prestigious trophy in World football. It is true that only European teams can take part in this but there is no other tournament of that level. The biggest European teams are Real Madrid, Fc Barcelona, Bayern Munich, etc and these are the teams who have won it most times.

This season Uefa champions league was suspended due to the Corona Virus pandemic in March. It was the time when the whole of Europe's football and all the other activities were stopped. So, it was necessary to stop the tournament.

Now Uefa has announced the date when the competition will finally return. Uefa has also released an altogether new format for the tournament. According to this format first, the second leg of the round of 16 will be played. Then it will the quarterfinals and semi's and then the grand final.

Now the change in the format is that all the remaining knockout games will be of only one leg. There will not be a second leg for any of the remaining ties. Also, another big change is that all the matches will be played at a neutral venue and that venue is Portugal. It can be helpful for some teams and also can harm some teams who are used to play at home conditions only. All the games will be no attendance games but still home plays a huge role in someone's gameplay.

Now the question that arises in the mind is that: who is the favorite to win this Uefa champions league title?

According to my point of view, the four best teams to win the title are as follows and I will give the proper justification for all of them.

1) Real Madrid: 




For me, the most favorite to win the title is Real Madrid. Real have won it the most times i.e 13 times. In recent times Real Madrid has been dominating this tournament and their talisman in all that was Cristiano Ronaldo. Cristiano was the top scorer in all of their campaigns. He scored 10 goals in almost every campaign for them. Their most recent win was in the 2017/18 season where they beat Liverpool by 3-1.

Real Madrid has a very difficult test to pass against Man city who are in blistering form in recent times. Real Madrid has already lost the first leg by a score of 2-1 but at a neutral venue, I will always back Real Madrid to UCL knockout game. They lost to Ajax very badly last season but that was due to fact that it was their first campaign after the departure of Cristiano.

Real Madrid are enjoying some great time in La Liga after the restart. They have won their first two games comfortably. Their squad is the best in Europe. They have their mighty coach Zinedine Zidane back for this campaign. They have at least two world-class players at different positions. So, real Madrid are in the best position to win the title.

2) Paris Saint Germain:



  Favorite number 2 is Paris Saint Germain. It is true that they have been knockout twice in the Round of 16 in the last two years. Firstly, they were knocked out by Real and the second one was very unfortunate for them. They had won the first leg against Man Utd by 3-1 and that was an away leg. But United came back in the second leg away from home and won the match 3-0. That took United to the quarter-finals of the league. But this season they have already qualified from the round of 16 by beating Dortmund.

PSG have a very strong squad that has players with the likes of Neymar, Mbappe, and Mauro Icardi. They have scored 17 goals in the group stage beating Real once and drawing the second time. They won the group ahead of Real Madrid. This season their key players like Di Maria, Neymar, and Mbappe will be looking to break the deadlock for PSG and win the champions league for the first time in their history.

3) Fc Barcelona:



    Although their recent history in the tournament doesn't really support this but when you have a player like Lionel Messi in your team you are always one of the favorites to win. Lionel Messi has won the medal 3 times while playing for Barcelona. He was in the team when they win the title in 2007 but he was not a part of the squad. Lionel Messi is the only player in the history of UCL to score five goals in a game. No one has ever matched that. He has also Uefa player of the year twice in his career. So, he holds the key for Barca in the tournament.

Barca scored only 9 goals in the group stages but we know that they have the capability to score more than that. In midfield, they have a lot of different options in the form of Busquets, Arthur Melo, Rakitic, Frenkie De Jong, and Arturo Vidal. They have Griezmann, Messi, and Suarez in the attack. And with this team everything is possible.

4)Juventus:



                   The biggest reason they are favorites to win the title is Cristiano Ronaldo. He has been the biggest game-changing factor in this tournament in the recent past. He has win 5 titles with two different teams i.e Man Utd where he won his first title and then the rest of four were won in Real Madrid colors. He holds the record to score the most amount of goals in a single season. He scored 17 goals in the 2013/14 season where they won the trophy against Atletico Madrid in the final. He also scored an iconic goal against the team he plays in right now that is probably the greatest goal in the history of the competition. In 2016/17 Real won the final against Juventus 4-1 where Ronaldo scored the first and the third goal of the game and got the man of the match in the final. So if he gets on fire it will be easy for Juventus to look at the trophy with a desire to win it.

Juventus have scored 12 goals in the group stages. They are currently struggling to find their feet after the restart of football. They have already lost a final against Napoli of Coppa Italia. But with the quality they have in their team they can make a comeback any time. They have Bonucci and Chiellini in the defence and players like Dybala and Ronaldo in the attack. But still, if they want to win their best players have to be on their best game.
