Juventus slip up against Milan to give some hopes to Lazio

Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus chief scoffs at claims CR7 is finished ...

Juventus has been in splendid form since the resumption of Serie A in Itlay. They had scored 13 goals in the last four games before yesterday's game. Their very first game after the restart was against Bologna away from home that they won 2-0. Their second game was against Lecce at home that they won with a huge score of 4-0.

Their actual restart of the season was not very good. They had their first match after the suspension due to the pandemic against Ac Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-final and resulted in a draw. Next up it was Napoli in the final of the competition where Juventus had a goalless draw in the regular time. The match was to be decided with a penalty shootout, Juve lost that final 4-2 on penalties.

Juventus played against Ac Milan away from home last night. It was a really important game in the context of the Serie A trophy. Although they were already 7 points ahead of Lazio in the title race where Lazio had played one more game than Juve, still it was really important to win that game. A win would have taken them 10 points clear of them and a loss would mean that there is still some sting in the tail.

Juve scored the first goal in the second half against Milan through a goal from the former PSG man Adrien Rabiot from just outside the box after a beautiful run from the wings. Soon after his goal, Cristiano scored 26th goal of his Serie A campaign and 30 in total. He is just 6 more goals away from leveling up Felice Borel's record of scoring the most Serie A goals in a single season for Juventus and also six away from breaking another record of most goals in a single season for Juventus in all competitions.

Juventus were standing at 2-0 till the 62nd minute when Milan got a penalty and was scored by their great Zlatan Ibrahimovich. After that, they scored three goals in the space of just 18 minutes. That took the match score to 4-2 and that score continued till the end of the match with no more goal added in this score. This is Juventus's first loss in Serie A since the restart.

We all know that Lazio has lost their last two games. One was against the same team who beat Juventus at home, Ac Milan, but their game against Ac Milan was at home and still, they lost with a huge score of 3-0. Zlatan scored in that game is well from the penalty spot. Lazio's latest match in the league was against Lecce away from home. Lecce is a strong side at home and they showed their class by beating the number 2 side in Italy on Tuesday by 2-1. Lazio's main man Ciro immobile was unable to do anything in both of these games.

Those defeats of Lazio have put them way behind in the league title race but all is not lost for them. There is still something for them in the race as Juventus still has to face Atalanta, Lazio, and Roma in their last match of the season. If they can manage to win their clash with Juve, then Lazio has a huge chance of upsetting the defending champions but still, Lazio will need help from Atalanta and Roma.

On the other hand, the current Italian champions Juve will be looking to win all their remaining matches and win their ninth successive league title.
