Who is the best penalty taker in the World? Ramos or Ronaldo

Real Madrid | Ramos: "Sometimes Cristiano and me have ...

Penalties are often considered as the easiest way to score goals. It may seem easy while you are watching someone take it but it is not as easy as they seem to be. Especially when they are being taken by someone at a very critical point in the match or in a penalty shoot-out. Then penalties are the ones that will decide the result of that match.

There have been a lot of players who got at taking penalties and a lot who sucks at taking them. The two most popular and the best in the world who doesn't have anyone who can match them are Cristiano Ronaldo and the Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos. They both have been brilliant in recent years and have decided a lot of games just by their penalties.

We all know that Cristiano Ronaldo was previously playing at Real Madrid and was the teammate of Sergio Ramos. It was very difficult for any player to have a chance to bite the cherry when Cristiano was playing at Real. There were a lot of other options like Bale, Benzema, Ramos, and many more but it was Cristiano all the time when Real got a penalty. And he was absolutely out of this World with his kick that has so much power and accuracy and were unsavable for any keeper in the World, so there was no need for any other option when he was in the team.

Cristiano left Real in 2018 for Juventus and also left a lot of loopholes in the team like who will play in the team in his place, who will be the one who scores 50 goals in a single. In between all these difficulties, there was one who will take the penalties from now on. Will it be Benzema, Bale, or Sergio Ramos? After Ronaldo left the team Bale was not able to cement a regular place in the starting eleven. Since then he has been sitting on the bench, a lot of new players like Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Asensio has come up front to take his place. So the competition was between Benzema and Ramos to take the penalties.

Ramos has been taking the penalties for Real Madrid in the last two seasons. He barely seems to miss any while he is taking one. After the last match against Athletic Bilbao where Ramos scored a penalty, he was asked about his penalty-taking technique and how he feels while taking it. He replied by saying that these situations are very tense sometimes because the match is on stake but he is quite comfortable in those situations. He added that he doesn't think much and only thinks about the three points for his team. He also feels like he is the best contender for these kinds of tense situations.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Whatsapp to Evra before the Atlético game: "At ...

When Ronaldo was at Real, it was his responsibility to take all of the penalties of the team. His records for the Los Blancos as far as penalties are concerned are 13 misses from the 92 spot-kicks received. Or in other words, we can say that he has scored a total of 79 out of the 92 he has stepped up for. His all times record is quite prolific as well as he has scored 129 penalties out of 154 for both club and country, boasting a success rate of impressive 85%. That is quite impressive and better than his arch-rival Lionel Messi who has missed more than him and has missed in some quite important games.

Real Madrid: 'Translation error' in Ifab laws saw Sergio Ramos ...

While on the other hand, Ramos has a better record than the great Portuguese. Ramos has just missed one out of the 24 he has taken for the Los Blancos. That boasts a quite exaggerating success rate of 95% compared to Cristiano's 85%. His latest ones were against Getafe at home and against Athletic Bilbao away. In both of the games, Real Madrid won with the help of penalty goals from their captain and this is not the first time he has saved his team he has done it so many times for the Los merengues. He is also known for his late goals in some really important games like Atletico in the UCL final, against Sevilla in the super Copa final, and against Barca in La Liga.

Both these great players have very different penalty scoring techniques that are very different from each other. Ramos has supreme confidence in his ability and says that he doesn't believe that a goalkeeper can influence any bit of his technique. Most of the time, in his run-up he usually waits for the goalkeeper to make a move and then simply slots the ball into a clearer section of the goal. This may sound simple to you but this is quite difficult in execution as he doesn't use much power and only wrong foot's the keeper and if sometimes a keeper can get the right way it can become very easy save for him. His favorite is panenka as he has used it so many times.

On the other hand, If we look into Cristiano's technique he has always used power to score his penalties. His main focus is to hit the penalty low as hard as he can and into the bottom corner of the goal post and when he gets his technique right his penalties become unstoppable for any keeper in the world. He is the only player who possesses that kind of thing because when other players get something wrong their shots look horrible but when he gets something wrong there is still a chance that ball will be into the back of the net due to the amazing power he uses in all of his penalties. I will quote this point by saying that every player's penalty is stoppable even if he gets it right but when Cristiano hits it right then there is not a single chance to save it.

I will conclude this by saying that both the players are good at their own places and are the best penalty takers in the world right now and maybe the greatest one in that particular attribute. It depends on people to decide who they think is best and for the time being, they are playing we should all enjoy what they are both doing on the soccer pitch.
