Real Madrid win La Liga for the second time under Zidane
Real Madrid showed the spirit of champions since the resumption of La Liga. They have won all the matches unlike their rivals Barcelona who have lost six points since the restart.
Real started their season on a positive note but according to their usual way. They had their first defeat in the eighth match of the season, unlike Barca who could conjure up only one point from their first three away games.
Los merengues played their most decisive game of the season last night against Villarreal at home. That was a match where a win would have given them the league title as they needed only two more points to win the league.
Zidane's side started the match on a real high and took the lead in the twenty-ninth minute from their main man and striker this season Karim Benzema.
The first half of the match ended in a 1-0 lead for the league leaders. Real Madrid extended their lead in the second half through the same man again.

Real got a penalty in the 78th minute of the match which was initially taken by their captain Sergio Ramos who laid it off for Benzema but the French striker has made his move into the box too early.
It was retaken and this time Ramos gave the ball to Real's top scorer who netted the ball for the second time in the match. That took them to 2-0 lead in the match.
Villarreal put one back in the 83rd minute and also gave Los Blancos some nervy moments in the match but Zidane's side stood still and won the match and also the league title for the 34th time in their history.

Barca also played their second last match of the league season against Osasuna hoping that they will win the match and Villarreal will get something from the Real Madrid match and nothing of the two happened. They lost 2-1 at home, Messi the scored the only goal for Barca.
La Liga was suspended like all the other leagues in Europe were due to the COVD-19 pandemic. At that stage, Los Blancos were two points below the Catalans in the race to win the title.
The league restarted in the first week of June after a three months break. It turned out to be a great refreshing break for the royal whites as they won all the games they have played so far and no team in the league has managed that and not only in La Liga but also in all the top five leagues where teams have played at least six to seven games.
That is the main reason why they have been successful in winning the league. On the other hand, Barca lost six points where they drew three games and also the ones they won were very close ones.
